Kia “Accelerate the Good” HBCU Scholarship

Five (5) scholarships • $5,000 each • Application deadline: April 30

The Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame is proud to continue its partnership with Kia America’s “Accelerate the Good” program to support students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Program Overview

Building on the success of prior scholarship awards, this opportunity supports students pursuing degrees in STEM, the arts, and related fields—and aligns with the Hall’s mission to inspire, educate, and expand access. 

Eligibility Criteria

• Be enrolled at, or planning to enroll in, a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) for the Fall 2026 semester
• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
• Demonstrate an unmet financial need
• Intent to major in one of the following disciplines:

• Sciences – Biology, Chemistry, Pre-Medicine, Physics, Applied Sciences, Material Sciences
• Technology – Aeronautics, Automotive Sciences, Computer Sciences, Mechanical Sciences, Technical/Vocational majors (involving machines, computers, technologies)
• Engineering – All engineering fields (Applied, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, etc.)
• Arts – Design, Graphics, Architecture, Fashion, Fine Arts, Studio Arts, Motion Pictures/Television, Entertainment Arts
• Math – Math, Applied Math, Statistics

Required Submission Materials

• Completed scholarship application
• Current resume
• Scholarship essay:In approximately 500–750 words, tell us why you should be selected for this scholarship. In your response, you may share your academic goals, leadership experiences, and how this scholarship would support your educational journey. Applicants are also welcome to reflect on the role college football, athletics, or sport has played in shaping their values, aspirations, or connection to their HBCU experience, if applicable. Responses do not need to be formatted. Please write your essay directly in the text box provided in the application.
• Interview: Finalists may be invited to interview; details will be provided if selected.

Do I have to be an athlete to apply?

No. All eligible students are encouraged to apply.

Which majors qualify?

Students pursuing STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, math) as well as eligible arts/design-related fields listed above may apply.
