It's Bowl Season!

December, 17 2015

After a long and exciting season Saturday brings us a day of bowl games! This weekend’s six-pack of games will be the first of a record 41 bowls followed by one bowl on Monday, two on Tuesday, and two more on Wednesday.

Bowl season has become one of the best iconic fan celebrations of the season filled with fan festivals and parades. Perhaps the most well-known and prestigious celebration of them all is the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California where the Iowa Hawkeyes and Stanford Cardinals will bring a competitive match. This year, the Goodyear Cotton Bowl and Capital One Orange Bowl are College Football Playoff Semifinal games. Winners from both games will move on to face off in the National Championship on January 11th

For the first time, Atlanta will be the host to two bowl games. The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl will host #18 Houston vs. #9 Florida State. The second bowl game comes as a new tradition to the HBCU world. The Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl is a new postgame pitting the conference champion from the MEAC and SWAC conferences.  North Carolina AT&T and Alcorn State will play for the win at noon on ABC.

The first-ever AutoNation Cure Bowl in Orlando will match San Jose State with Georgia State. This particular bowl is meant as a memoriam of those who lost their battle with breast cancer but also a celebration of life for the women who are still battling today.

Other notable bowls to mention on Saturday are the New Mexico Bowl (Arizona/New Mexico), Las Vegas Bowl (Brigham Young/Utah), Camellia Bowl (Ohio/Appalachian State) and New Orleans Bowl (Arkansas State/Louisiana Tech).  Monday’s Miami Beach Bowl matches South Florida and Western Kentucky.  Tuesday’s lineup has the Potato Bowl (Akron/Utah State) and the Boca Raton Bowl (Toledo/Temple).  Finishing up with Boise State and Northern Illinois meet in the Poinsettia Bowl while Bowling Green takes on Georgia Southern in the GoDaddy Bowl on Wednesday.

One last solid weekend of football will be bittersweet for some but is the beginning of National Championship dreams!
