The gunslinger behind the dynasty of the Dallas Cowboys in the 1990s, Aikman made his collegiate mark at UCLA. After beginning his career in Oklahoma, he transferred to the West Coast to fit into a more pass-oriented offense. During his time with the Bruins, they compiled a 20-4 record and Aikman was the 1988 Davey O’Brien Award winner as the nation’s top quarterback.
In the NFL, Aikman was under center for one of the most impressive runs in professional football history, guiding the Cowboys to three Super Bowl titles in four years. He played in six Pro Bowls and finished with the most passing yards in Dallas’s storied history.
Aikman, who was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008, will have his No. 8 jersey retired at UCLA on Nov. 28.
