Legends of the Touchdown Dance

July 29 is National Dance Day, and we feel there’s no better way to celebrate than looking back on our favorite touchdown dances from our College Football Hall of Famers. There were plenty to choose from, but here’s a list with a few of our favorites.

2014 College Football Hall of Famer Ladanian Tomlinson scored fifty-six touchdowns while at TCU. When he made it to the NFL, he had his touchdown dance perfected. We would describe it as simple and effective, but oh so cool.

With a flick of the wrist, Tomlinson lets us all know he’s found pay dirt. While on the field his touchdown dance was simple, he did up the difficulty with his "Electric Glide".

Deion Sanders, member of the 2011 College Football Hall of Fame class, might have been one of the flashiest and coolest dudes on the planet while at Florida State. So, it should come as no surprise that his touchdown dance was a little more complicated. There was some serious footwork involved with this one! What made his touchdown dance so exciting was that it came on the defensive side of the ball or on special teams.

When looking for one of the most difficult touchdown dances to perfect, look no further than Widener University’s Billy “White Shoes” Johnson, 1996 College Football Hall of Fame inductee. His touchdown dance not only involved him hitting the turf, but also involved some deception!

Michigan’s Desmond Howard, College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2010, has to be included on any list of favorite touchdown dances. Howard’s “dance” was so iconic that it’s still performed today. We’re talking about his Heisman pose, of course.

2017 College Football Hall of Fame inductee Kirk Gibson didn’t make his name in the NFL, but the MLB instead. This wouldn’t keep him from having his own iconic celebration though. Playing on two bad legs, Gibson pinch-hit in the bottom of the ninth of game one of the 1988 World Series. When he hit the game-winning home run, he celebrated in a way that will never be forgotten.

While many of our Hall of Famers were flashy, fun and impressive with their touchdown dances, there is one from our 2003 class that is known for his lack of celebration once finding the end zone. Oklahoma State’s Barry Sanders truly acted like he had been there before when he scored.

We hope you enjoyed our list of favorite touchdown dances. We are curious to see what kind of moves you have. Send us your touchdown dance to @cfbhall on Twitter or Instagram!
