Bio

Before Rod Cason arrived on the Angelo State campus, the school's football program was in a downward spiral. Two year before, the Rams had an 0-10 season. Cason greatly contributed to reversing that trend. In his sophomore year he won the first of three NAIA All-America notices as he helped Angelo State to three consecutive winning seasons. As a senior, he led the team to the NAIA playoffs and was elected team captain and, in 1971, a berth in the NAIA semifinal playoffs. Cason was then drafted by the New England Patriots, then had a career as a high school teacher and coach. He went into the oil industry and became an operations superintendent.
