Jerry Sisemore

Bio

Once teams had a few years experience in playing against the University of Texas wishbone formation, the basics of line play and execution rather than deception became the principle factors in its success. The best Texas lineman of this period was Jerry Sisemore. As a sophomore, Sisemore was a regular on the 1970 Longhorn team that built an unbeaten streak to 31 games. The next year Jerry blossomed into one of the nation's best linemen as he had the first of two consecutive seasons where he was both an all-conference and unanimous All-America selection. In his 1972 senior year, Texas won it's third consecutive Southwest Conference title and gained its third straight Cotton Bowl bid. Sisemore was honored by his teammates by being elected captain on the 10-1 team. As a high school star, Jerry was so prized by Coach Darrell Royal, that the Hall of Fame coach tracked down Sisemore's father in a West Texas oil field. There his father signed the letter of intent, rather than risk the uncertainty of the Sisemore family mailing the papers. In the pros, Sisemore was the third selection in the NFL draft. Chosen by Philadelphia , he had a 12-year career with the Eagles and played in three Pro Bowls.
