Bio

In three seasons, 1929-31, Colgate compiled an overall record of 25-3-0. They held 19 of their 28 opponents scoreless. Their star player during this era was first team All-America end John "Count" Orsi. The list of teams who went down to defeat includes such dominating powers as Michigan State, Penn State, NYU, Syracuse and Brown. In those three years, Colgate ran up 925 points against 80 for their foes. On offense Orsi was a swift, nimble, high leaping pass-catcher who contributed generously to Colgate's high scores. On defense he was a play-disrupting, jolting tackler - testified by those 19 frustrated non-scoring opponents. Captain of the 1931 Colgate team, Orsi received All-America honors, including first team citations by the International News Service and the All-America Board, and also played in the East-West Shrine Game. From 1932 to 1941 Orsi taught and coached at Colgate before going into business for himself as a manufacturer's representative.
