Bio

For his first two seasons at TCU, LaDainian Tomlinson was a backup at both the tailback and fullback positions. As a junior, he won a starting job in the Horned Frog offense. In 1999, he led the nation in rushing with 1,850 yards, and became a second-team All-America and Conference MVP. The following year, he again led the nation with 2,185 yards, won the Doak Walker Award as the nation’s top back, and was a unanimous All-America. In a game against Texas-El Paso, he set an all-time single game mark with 406 yards rushing. Tomlinson helped lead TCU back into national prominence. The 2000 team went 10-2 and was the first TCU team in the top 25 in 41 years. Selected as the fifth overall pick of the 2001 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers, Tomlinson enjoyed a successful 11-year career with the Chargers and Jets. The 2006 NFL MVP twice led the league in rushing, and he finished his career fifth all-time in rushing yards (13,684) and second in career rushing touchdowns (145). He was a five-time Pro Bowl selection and four-time All-Pro selection. In retirement he supports numerous community activities.
