Bio

Robert Torrey was a versatile lineman for Penn at the turn of the 20th Century. As a freshman, he was a tackle and gained second- team All-America consideration. Bob moved to end the next season. He found a home at center for his final two years in 1904 and 1905. His senior year he was named the Penn captain and was a second-team All-America pick as a junior and the consensus choice as a senior. In those two years the Quakers went 24-0-1. The 1904 team was unbeaten and unscored upon. During this stretch Pennsylvania had a 21-game win streak where they posted 18 shutouts. After football, Torrey became a physician and led the board of the Philadelphia General Hospital.
