Ronnie Lott

Bio

During his career, Ronnie Lott was regarded as one of the hardest hitting players in college football. Not as one of the hardest hitting defensive backs, but one of the most feared tacklers regardless of position. But Lott's hitting ability is just one half of the story on this Hall of Famer. Ronnie was also an adept pass defender who intercepted eight passes, to lead the nation in this category during his senior season. He was so skilled in pass coverage that he made a remarkable transformation from his college position of strong safety to cornerback when he first entered the professional ranks. Lott was a key member of some extremely successful Southern California teams. Upon first becoming a starter in his sophomore season, he was part of a national championship team in 1978. The following year, the Trojans were undefeated and ranked second nationally. Overall, these Coach John Robinson led-teams put together a 28-game unbeaten streak. As a senior, Lott was elected as team captain and won his second All-Conference honors while becoming a unanimous All-America. He continued his winning ways in the professional ranks where he was a part of eight NFC Western Division championship teams and four Super Bowl winning teams with the San Francisco 49ers. During his pro career he was a ten-time Pro Bowl performer.
